Immunoblotting explained! – Video by Marie Kriwet

In her video, Marie explains the basic principles of Immunoblotting or Western blotting, a method often used by biologists to study proteins. It allows researchers to separate proteins by size and can give information about a protein’s state by using specific antibodies.

Marie is a PhD student at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene at the Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Her research focusses on host-pathogen interactions on a cellular level and on signalling pathways leading to cell death after bacterial infection.

Marie joined our video workshop in which Adam and Joseph helped participants to create a science video in just two days. We are amazed that this actually worked so well with our PhD students and Postdocs creating amazing videos. 🤩

Watch her video if you want learn about the technique, on which Marie – just like many other biologists – spend so much time in the lab.
