Immunoblotting explained! – Video by Marie Kriwet
In her video, Marie explains the basic principles of Immunoblotting or Western blotting, a method often used by biologists to study proteins. It allows researchers to separate proteins by size and can give information about a protein’s state by using specific antibodies.
Marie is a PhD student at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene at the Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Her research focusses on host-pathogen interactions on a cellular level and on signalling pathways leading to cell death after bacterial infection.

Marie joined our video workshop in which Adam and Joseph helped participants to create a science video in just two days. We are amazed that this actually worked so well with our PhD students and Postdocs creating amazing videos.
Watch her video if you want learn about the technique, on which Marie – just like many other biologists – spend so much time in the lab.
