The Acronym <strong>PIER <\/strong>stands for <strong>P<\/strong>artnership for <strong>I<\/strong>nnovation, <strong>E<\/strong>ducation and <strong>R<\/strong>esearch. PIER focuses on the research fields <strong>Particle and Astroparticle Physics<\/strong>, <strong>Nanosciences<\/strong>, <strong>Photon Science<\/strong> and<strong> Infection and Structural Biology.<\/strong> Additional interdisciplinary areas include <strong>Theoretical Physics<\/strong> and <strong>Accelerator Research<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the umbrella of PIER, DESY and Universit\u00e4t Hamburg jointly provide funding for cross-institutional research projects, promote high-quality education of junior scientists, and foster an innovation-friendly culture on the Hamburg Bahrenfeld science campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Blog and Podcast Project Science Chatter displays the products of early career scientists (PhD students and Postdocs) who participated in Science Communication Projects organized by the <strong>PIER Education Platform<\/strong> <strong>(PEP)<\/strong>.
